A cosy country farmhouse style with all the modern comforts. Mind your head as you enter into a cosy porch, the original door height was obviously designed for shorter folk! The slate clad hall has a door turning into an elegant bathroom, with free standing bath, walk-in shower and original art installations. Turn right, up a step into an open plan kitchen-dining room with plenty of old furniture including the repurposed sink base and pine table. The knobs have all been hand crafted by myself from ceramics, in colours inspired by the sea. The artwork on the walls are all originals painted by myself and other artists. All the crockery is hand-thrown ceramic and the glass-wear I have painted with flowers and Celtic designs. The deep walls mean a snug window seat perfect for relaxing with a wee dram while cooking.
The master bedroom is on the ground floor for more space and to enable folk to stay who can't mange the stairs. Luxury touches are everywhere in the form of handwoven tweed curtains, cushions, throws and lampshades. More original paintings, including the wardrobe door! Another cosy window seat plus a tv for relaxing in bed catching up with your favourite movie or drama.
Upstairs there is a comfortable twin bedroom and a snug sitting room with views over to the mainland and the mountains of Harris. Both are filled with art, vintage and antique furniture and plenty of handwoven textiles! There is also a desk area with antique chair and painted desk top perfect for catching up with work in a relaxing setting.
There is underfloor heating throughout the entire house and top spec insulation with an air source heat pump which provides a continual steady heat meaning the house is perfectly warm and doesn't fluctuate!
There is a sauna, outside seating area, drying room for wet clothes and dogs and facilities for laundry. Hopefully everything you could possibly need for a perfect home-away-from-home!
